Migrating voices” is a project that promotes a culture of reception and integration through activities of meeting between youths with different cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds.

The project is inspired by the values of respect of the diversity, of solidarity, fight against racism, against discrimination and xenophobia.

In line with the general aims defined by the program ‘Programma Gioventù in Azione’, “Migrating voices” aims to promote solidarity and tolerance, helping a better mutual understanding between youths of different nationalities, making them the actors of the social change and promoting their effort and values of active citizenship in their communities.

The presence of a reception centre for asylum applicants (C.A.R.A.) on the Friulan territory offers a concrete possibility of meeting and mutual enrichment between the guests of the centre and the students of the regional secondary schools, with the firm belief that the youths are the real promoters of the change and of the construction of a more supportive Europe.

The planning actions expect:

  1. A meeting in the regional secondary schools between the students and their equals in age of the C.A.R.A. of Gradisca d’Isonzo, in the perspective of offering to the young migrants the opportunity of a comparison with the culture of the reception Country, which could allow them to express and elaborate their past and to draw new paths of integration in the territory.

  2. The creation of the digital newsletter “Migrating Voices”, in which the C.A.R.A. guests’ stories of migration and integration will be collected and monthly transmitted on-line to the readers of the magazine of @uxilia “Socialnews”.

  3. The creation of the audio-book “Migrating Voices”, which includes the paper version of the e-letters and a cd with the audio selection of the testimonies collected and interpreted by the actors of the Triest theatrical company “Consorzio Scenico”. The audio-book will be distributed in the secondary schools that participate to the project, and free copies will be given also to institutes and organizations of the third sector which deal with the protection of weak subjects and migrants.
