As told in his book, My dream called Olympiad, the battle of Luca Galimberti is a battle against a disease played on both a clinical and personal level. The book, published by @uxilia non-profit organization and the Italian Committee Mielina Project in collaboration with the Telethon.


In his book "My dream called Olympics," Luca tells of his difficulties and successes in dealing with his plight through sports. Luca Galimberti, athlete of FICK and FINP writes with many of his dream of participating in the Paralympic Swimming at the London Olympics of 2012. Luca is suffering from Adrenoleukodystrophy, a genetic disorder hereditary and progressive, made famous by the movie "Lorenzo's Oil", which causes the gradual destruction of the myelin sheath that surrounds and insulates nerve fibers. As the subtitle says, personal experience is that Luca tells of a battle against the disease from a clinical level, but also in terms of a personal decision not to give in to it but to fight through sport, motor recovery and the "strength of mind". Luca Galimberti is a sports ambassador of the "Italian Committee Mielina Project", the Italian branch of an international non-profit organization founded in 1989 by Augusto Odone and his wife Michaela Teresa Murphy, to find a cure for their son Lorenzo, which aims to fund research on rare diseases, neurological and demyelinating. In May 2011, Luca won the regional title in the 100 meter freestyle in the Interregional Championship FINP (Italian Federation of Paralympic Swimming) with times that are not too far away from those who were admitted to the national finals. In April 2011 Luca won, slalom, the title of Italian Champion Paracanoa, which is the area that has been blended with FICK (Italian Canoe Kayak Federation) in the specialty K1TA senior. The Paracanoa will be a Paralympic sport in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. For the win!
